Today, for Team Teal's BBCP, I have another book aesthetic. This month's theme is FANTASY.
I chose the VE Schwab book A Darker Shade of Magic.
Here's a little on the book first.
A Darker Shade of Magic
By VE Schwab
Kell is one of the last Antari, a rare magician who can travel between parallel worlds: hopping from Grey London — dirty, boring, lacking magic, and ruled by mad King George — to Red London — where life and magic are revered, and the Maresh Dynasty presides over a flourishing empire — to White London — ruled by whoever has murdered their way to the throne, where people fight to control magic, and the magic fights back — and back, but never Black London, because traveling to Black London is forbidden and no one speaks of it now.
Officially, Kell is the personal ambassador and adopted Prince of Red London, carrying the monthly correspondences between the royals of each London. Unofficially, Kell smuggles for those willing to pay for even a glimpse of a world they’ll never see, and it is this dangerous hobby that sets him up for accidental treason. Fleeing into Grey London, Kell runs afoul of Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations. She robs him, saves him from a dangerous enemy, then forces him to take her with him for her proper adventure.
But perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save both his London and the others, Kell and Lila will first need to stay alive — a feat trickier than they hoped.

This is an amazing book. I gave it a 4/5. I love the world. It's so magical. And the characters? AWESOME. Kell and Lila. UGH. HUMAN GOALS. I'm a huge fan of it.
Here's a snippet of my Goodreads review! If you want to read the rest, here you go.
"I love the characters. They are interesting and have great backstory.
Kell is fascinating. Really. He is part of the royal family, but he also isn't related. He is outcasted by everyone because he's Antari. (Even by the other Antari.) He doesn't belong. This is an emotional struggle in the story that isn't always present. But is interesting nonetheless. Kell has a good personality. He has a strong personality. He is brave and caring. He does what he can to help his friends and loved ones. (Ehem. Rhy.) He has a strong presence. I would hang out with Kell. I would trust Kell with my life.
Lila is a great character. She has backstory. It's never told, though. Which allows for the reader to wonder about her personality and why she does what she does. She is bright and vivacious. Lila is a brave girl who doesn't take no for an answer. She does what she wants. But beneath this bravery and valor, she cares about people. She cared about Barron and Kell. She protects her friends but also doesn't get too close. Her heart is blocked off. Perhaps she had it broken. I wonder about her parents. And the glass eye! That as well."

Alright. And I'm going to explain my choices for the photos! Starting...now!
The top left picture is a black trench coat. Kell wears a coat with many different sides to it. A black trench coat could be one of those sides. I chose black as the color because one of the Londons is Black London.
The picture under the black coat is a picture of London in grayscale. The book is set in different versions of Londons. I chose gray because one of the Londons is Gray London (Aka our world...or a version of our world.)
The top right picture is a bloody hand. Kell is an Antari. That means he's a special type of magician who can wield blood magic (But he also can wield the four elements.)
The picture under the bloody hand is a red coat. As I said, Kell has a coat with many sides. So this could be one side. And the color is red because one of the Londons is Red London.
And the bottom picture is of two heterochromia eyes. Heterochromia is a condition when you have two different color eyes. Kell, as an Antari, has two colored eyes. One is blue, and one is black. (I couldn't find that exactly. So I chose grayscale ones!)
