Sushi Book Tag: A Guest Post By Anna from 'Unquenchable Reads'

Sunday, July 3, 2016

Today, we have a guest poster for the Summer Blog Promo Tour. This was originally started by The Book Bratz. Check them out here. Without a further ado, here's Anna from Unquenchable Reads.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi everyone! I'm Anna from Unquenchable Reads and I'm the first stop on the Summer Blogger Promo Tour for Wren. I'm so excited for this year's tour and it is going to be a ton of fun! Wren and I emailed for a little bit before deciding on what we should do. So, I am doing the Sushi Book Tag (because sushi is one of the best foods ever in my opinion <3 ) and you'll have to keep checking back on my blog to see what post Wren does on my blog later on :) This tag was created by Unicorn Hunter Books on Youtube.
Unagi:
What book sounds strange but is really amazing?
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff.
Someone at school asked "what is that even about?" so I explained it. They replied "that's weird" then turned around. But it's a super amazing book! I don't think it sounds weird, but I thought that was an opportunity to tell that story quickly. I know it isn't a great story, but I thought I would tell it anyway.
Rainbow Roll:
What book has too many layers?
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski.
I haven't read House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski, but I've flipped through the book multiple times at Barnes and Noble and wow. It looks super complicated. There looks to be so many layers of plot in that book. I can't think of one that has too many layers that I've read so......
Inari:
What series should have more books?
The Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare
Maybe The Infernal Devices trilogy? It's my favorite series so far that's in the Shadowhunter world. I feel like a lot more could have maybe been explained or maybe just have everything at a slower pace with more side scenes. OOH!
Mara Dyer trilogy by Michelle Hodkin
Or the Mara Dyer trilogy. That series needs so much more to be explained and I feel like one more book in Mara's POV would help explain it.
Fish eggs
What book do you feel bad for not reading?
City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare, Queen of Shadows by Sarah J Maas, The Fifth Wave by Rick Yancey
I have too many. I feel bad about not reading City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare, Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas, and The Fifth Wave by Rick Yancey are just a few examples (yet, I feel bad for not reading them yet).
Sashimi:
What book is great even without a crucial element of its genre (i.e. a sci-fi book without aliens, a fantasy without magic)?
The Island by S. Usher Evans is a fantasy novel that doesn't have magic and is amazing. If you don't know what it's about, The Island is about a kingdom and a rebelling land. There is a war going on that interferes with two people's lives, forcing them to meet. They have to learn to survive if they want to live.
Avocado Roll:
What book is great in its simplicity?
The Kiss of the Rose Princess by Aya Shouto
The Kiss of the Rose Princess manga was very simple, yet it was so good! I loved the series.
What is your favorite kind of sushi?
My favorite sushi roll is one of the following: the Crazy roll, Philadelphia roll, or the Spicy Tuna roll.
Thank you Wren for having me! I hope you booklovers have a lovely day and happy reading!
Delicious Desserts Book Tag
Tuesday, January 26, 2016
Graphic done by me (Wren)
Hiya, it's Wren here.
You may or may not know that I'm an avid fan of dessert. I thought, 'Why not make a book tag for desserts?' And so this idea was born.
Cake: A book that filled you up
And doesn't this cake look delicious? AMAZING CHOCOLATE CAKE. I wants you!
I'm going with Vicious by Victoria Schwab. This book was great. I read it so quickly. It took me only a few days. It had murder and mystery and magic. Three Ms that make me all giddy. Plus, it was by one of my favorite authors Victoria Schwab.
Cupcake: An under-300 paged book you ADORED
George by Alex Gino is so sweet. It was cute and fluffy. Definitely something I adored and loved from the start.
If you ask me, George would be more of a vanilla cupcake with chocolate filling. Something surprising inside.
Cookies: Favorite audiobook/ebook
I don't typically listen to audiobooks. And I don't typically enjoy ebooks. But I do admit I loved the eARC of This Is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp I got from NetGalley. The book was amazing by itself. I was bawling by the end of the book. And I was on a car ride. So it's a bit embarrassing. Trust me on that. The ebook part was mostly because I didn't have a copy with me. Haha.
Tarts: Favorite quick read
I'm totally counting manga for this one. Because manga is a quick read. Haha.
I'm saying Ouran High School Host Club by Bisco Hatori. This manga series is so cute. I read almost all the hardcopies my library had in a few days. As soon as I got them, I spent an hour to finish them. Manga is always easy to read. Especially in hard copy form. It only takes me an hour (as I said.)
Ice cream: Favorite couple that's hot hot hot
I'm going to say Chaol and Celaena from Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas. Because whoa. Those two had their moments. They were very compatible. (Hush, shippers. It's my opinion.) I've been a Chaolena fan for a while.
And I know people will say the romance from Lux, but I've never read it (adamantly so.) Not to mention the fact that I'm not a huge fan of romance to begin with. Just saying.
And I don't read hot romances. Ever. At most, it's steamy.
Pudding/custard: Best supporting character
Iko from Cinder by Marissa Meyer is amazing. She's funny and cute and sassy. Her commentary is quick. She reminds me of Clara Oswin Oswald (COO) who also had quick retorts. And COO is sassy too. COO's from Doctor Who. Just as a reminder.
Iko is android goals.
Pie: A book with a great setting and world development
Going with Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld. It's been a long time since I read this book. But it was amazing. The world was intriguing. It was detailed. (To my recollection.) It had many elements. And I just loved the premise. And the maps were...ugh...gorgeous.
Chocolate and assorted candies: A guilty pleasure book
This is going to be fan fiction. Why? I don't typically read it. And I personally love reader inserts. That's when it's you (the reader) as the main character. And I typically read the Hetalia ones if I do read them. I used to write reader inserts of anime on DeviantArt. Yeah, not Wattpad or Fanfiction.net. DeviantArt. It's a cool place. The groups are great to meet new people and find new stories. I've written Free! reader inserts and some Ouran ones. And a good amount of Hetalia ones. Because I adore Hetalia. (I'm such a big fan of Ivan who is Russia and Lovino who is South Italy/Romano.)
I'm tagging Cait at Paper Fury. Anyone can join in, though!
I tag you, dear tomato!
How I Met Your Mother Book Tag
How I Met Your Mother Book Tag
Since I haven't seen a HIMYM book tag floating around, I decided to make one. I adore this show. It's funny and adorable all at once. It can touch on serious topics with humor. I've made so many references to this show. I've burst out into humming the theme song. (So catchy, right?) I've said things like 'The Gentlemen!' and bowed dramatically. My friends don't get it at all. -sighs- This tag seems like the perfect way to show my feelings about this show.
Onto the tag! I haven't read all the books. Some of them aren't even out. Some I might never read. Some I have. Some I will read.
The Mother
A book with a well-kept secret
23555803
I chose this book because of the secret of the truth about the Brimstone Bleed. And I will NOT give away the secret. It's too juicy. You just have to read to find it out!
And it's well-kept because no one really knows it. Except...Truth-Teller. (I won't reveal who spills the beans.) People who have read this book will get this.
The Playbook
A book with a player
13206828
This was so hard for me to place. I don't KNOW books with a player. Why? I just don't read books with a player in it. But. I searched high and low. I looked through my 600+ books on my 'Read' shelf on Goodreads.
Who is the player in this book? I'm going to say Thorne. He isn't much of a player...but he does flirt a lot and play with people's feelings. (You could also say Rose is a bit of a player if that's the definition of a player.)
Just look at the blond guy. He just looks like he's going to twist poor Cress's heart into a knot.
The Bro Code
A book with a bromance
22055262
Kell and Rhy. Some of the best bros out there. They were so chill with each other. They worked great with each other and had a lot of love for each other.
Awesome bromance!
The Blue French Horn
A book with an act of true love
18660669
You might me wondering what I mean. 'WHAT ACT OF TRUE LOVE?'
I mean the true love between friends.
Lissa and Rose were two great friends. The act of true love I mean is actually from before the story even begins. I hope you know what I mean. Heh heh. No spoilers!
The Goat
A book with humorous elements
22736613
This book was just so cute. It was adorable. Tiny was such a great character. Awesomely funny.
Left at the Altar
A book that left you wanting more
(Sorry. I couldn't find a GIF from the wedding...)
2282133
I want Dimitri and Rose! And what happened after the ending! (I just finished this one, and I haven't gotten the third book yet. So I'm yearning for more.) I WANT MORE. GIMME!
The Blitz
A book about bad luck
23346358
This one isn't out yet, but it still is about bad luck. Or is it?
Again. It isn't out yet. Not to me, at least.
Canada
A book set in a foreign country
18196040
This book is set in Kowloon. A completely foreign place. Not a country, but it's in a country! Yeah!
Slap Bet
A book about dares
17565845
This book isn't really about dares. It's about pushing you limit. It is sort of dares, though. It's a risk-taking game. And the risks seem like dares.
SO IT COUNTS.
Haaaaveee You Met Ted?
A book someone introduced you to
10929432
A FRIEND didn't introduce this to me. A book fan artist. She did this AWESOME fan art of Wesley Ayers, and I wanted to read about this Guyliner dude! So yeah.
And now...I tag...
Everyone!
If you want to do this, go ahead!
Also, who is your favorite How I Met Your Mother character? And your favorite gag from the show? Tell me and we can totally fangirl. (Muwahaha.)
