Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Fairytale Retellings I've Read/Want To Read

Monday, August 3, 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This Week's Topic:

Ten Fairytale Retellings I've Read/Want to Read

I don't particularly adore fairytales anymore. I don't believe in the prince charging in to save the day. I can save my own person, thank you very much. I do read their retellings, though. Some are really amazing. They can be dark or humorous. The authors work their magic and change things to make the fairytale their own.
All the books on this Top Ten are ones I've finished.

Cinderella: Cinder, Throne of Glass, Shadows on the Moon, Ash
Red Riding Hood: Scarlet
Beauty and the Beast: Cruel Beauty, Of Beast and Beauty, Stung
Rapunzel: Cress
Alice in Wonderland: The Looking Glass Wars

  2. Shadows on the Moon sounds really interesting. Eastern stories are so rare.

    1. Yeah. It's not wildly popular. I didn't adore the book or anything. It was just okay. I didn't even realize it was a retelling. Who knew?

  4. I love Cress, it's probably my favorite from the LC series. :) Haven't heard about Stung either!

  5. I haven't had the chance to read "Of Beast and Beauty" and I've been seeing it on quite a few lists today. The Beauty and the Beast isn't one of my favorite stories, but I'm willing to take a chance on original retellings (oxymoron I know).

    1. Ash wasn't too bad. It was something I enjoyed but didn't outright love.
And I was like, 'No clue...MEYER RETELLINGS! -flails-' So yeah.
